Heat wave sweeping over many regions may continue

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted that a mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over many regions of the country and it may continue till tomorrow morning.
"Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka, Khulna & Barishal divisions and the districts of Rangamati, Cumilla, Chandpur, M.court, Feni, Rajshahi, Pabna & Sirajgonj and it may continue," said the Met Office in a release issued this morning.
The Met Office also forecasted rain or thunder showers with moderately heavy falls at many places over the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.
"Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Chattogram divisions. Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country," according to the release.
Meanwhile, day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
The country’s maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 39.4 degree Celsius at Jashore in Khulna and today’s minimum temperature of 22.4 degree Celsius was recorded jointly in Mymensingh.
Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today was recorded 30 millimeters (mm) at Tangail.
The sun sets at 06:35 pm today and rises at 05:15 am tomorrow in the capital.
