Heat wave sweeping over many regions may continue

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Wednesday predicted that a mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Gopalganj, Rajshahi and Pabna and it may continue till tomorrow morning.
The Met Office also forecasted rain or thunder showers at many places over the country in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow at 9:00 am.
"Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Sylhet division and at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rangpur and Chattogram divisions with hails at isolated places," according to a Met office release issued this morning.
Besides, "Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country" during the period, said the release.
Day temperature may rise slightly over the country. Night temperature may fall slightly over western part of the country and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country.
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded yesterday by 37.6 degrees Celsius at Jashore under the Khulna division while the minimum temperature today was recorded by 19.1 degrees Celsius at Srimangal under the Sylhet division.
