Heat wave may abate from some places

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday predicted that a mild heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka division and the regions of Chandpur, Rajshahi, Tarash and Satkhira and it may abate from some places in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am tomorrow. 

The Met Office also forecasted that rain or thundershowers with moderately heavy to heavy falls is likely to occur at many places over the country during the period. 

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” said a Met Office release issued this morning. 

Besides, day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, it added. 

The Met Office also said that “Rainfall activity may continue” in the next 72 hours or three days. 

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was recorded 36.3 degrees Celsius yesterday at Satkhira in Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature was 24.5 degrees Celsius in Chattogram. The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6:00 am today was recorded 26 mm in Rangpur. 

The sunsets at 5:57 pm today and rises at 5.47 am tomorrow in the capital.
