Heat wave likely to spread

A mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Kurigram and Kushtia, and it likely to spread in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today, predicted Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday. 

The Met Office also forecasted that many parts of the country may experience rain or thundershower with temporary gusty or squally wind during the period. 

“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions,” said a Met Office bulletin issued this morning.

The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, the bulletin added.

Besides, day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.

The maximum temperature was recorded yesterday 39 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, while today’s minimum temperature was 19 degree Celsius in Badalgachhi under Rajshahi Division and Sayedpur under Rangpur Division.

The sun sets at 6:18 pm today and rises at 5:42 am tomorrow in the capital.
