The High Court has fixed Thursday on hearing the appealing of Robi Axiata demanding a ban on the debt of  Tk 867.23 crores to Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

On Tuesday, the High Court bench comprising Justice Mamun Rahman and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das fixed the day for the hearing.

During the hearing, senior lawyer Prabir Niyogi and barrister Kazi Ershadul Alam was present for the private mobile phone operator Robi and senior advocate Mahbubey Alam and barrister Khandaker Reza-E-Rakib was present for the BTRC.

On July 31 this year, the BTRC wrote a letter to Robi demanding Tk 867.23 crores debt. Later, Robi lodged a suit with the lower court regarding the letter. At the same time, the company appealed for a temporary restriction on payment until the case was settled.

Later, the lower court dismissed Robi’s provisional sanctions petitions. Robi appealed with the High Court against the order. The court on Sunday accepted the appeal for a hearing.
