Those who loves cinema still this song weave to their heart. Kheya ghater majhi sabar Priyo Mia bhai alias Akbor Hossain Pathan Dulu is well known by the stage name Farooque.

Today is the happy birthday of the legend of Bengali cinema.

This year he celebrates his birthday in abroad as he went to London on July 20. He is scheduled to return home on August 22.

Farooque is from Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur. He was born on August 18, 1948. His father name is Ajgor Hossain Pathan and mother Afjalunessa. He was associated with the politics in Six point movement in 1966. He was a freedom fighter at the 1971 Liberation War. After the death of Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975 Farooque did not celebrate his birthday in glittering manner. He lost his mother at the age of 8.

He spends most childhood and youth in old Dhaka. He was active in Awami League politics from school life. 

He debuted with 1971’s Jolchobi, and starred in memorable films like Lathiyal, Noyon Moni and Shujon Shokhi.

Farooque starred in one of the most successful films in the history of Bangladesh, Sareng Bou. Golapi Ekhon Train E is also a classic film that people re-watch to this day. After his film Miya Bhai, the people of Dhaka started calling him Miya Bhai adoringly.  The beloved actor, who won the National Award and Lifetime Achievement Award, is now a revered politician and a member of Parliament.

“One of my biggest achievements in life is that I have won the hearts of people,” says Farooque, who loves the country and its people irrevocably.
