Happy birthday ‘Legendary Actor’ Humayun Faridi

Humayun Faridi, one of the most celebrated actors of Bangladesh. While acting in stage, TV, and films, Humayun Faridi was able to create his own acting role, which made him unique in the media. Today is the 68th birthday of this legendary actor.

Humayun Faridi was one of the organizers of the Dhaka Theater. He also served as the organizer of village theater for a long time. He achieved outstanding fame for his flowing performances in stage, TV, and films. 

The legendary actor was born on May 29, 1952, in Narinda, Dhaka. Many wishes from Daily Bangladesh on the occasion of Humayun Faridi’s birthday.

Humayun Faridi’s father’s name is ATM Nurul Islam and mother’s name is Begum Farida Islam. He was the second among five siblings. Pinu was one of her sisters. 

In 1968, he passed the SSC exam from Islamia Government High School and in 1970 he passed the HSC from Chandpur Government College. In the same year, he entered the University of Dhaka to study organic chemistry. However, due to the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, it became impossible to continue his studies and he subsequently took part as a freedom fighter in the war. Later, he was admitted to Jahangirnagar University to study economics and became a close associate of dramatist Selim Al-Deen.

Comedy favorite Humayun Faridi was very passionate and professional. His professionalism in any character is still popular among the country’s artists. With a multi-dimensional performance in very short periods, he established his position in the heart of the audience. 

In the struggle of the country, he went forward with the general people in the fight, in the protest rally. Jahangirnagar University authorities honored him on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the institution for his outstanding contributions, and in 2004, he received the National Film Award.

Faridi kicked off the journey in the showbiz arena being a leading organizer of the 1976 Drama Festival of Jahangirnagar University. He became the member of Dhaka Theatre reaming a university student. Faridi made his acting debut in the television drama with ‘Nil Nakshar Shandaney’ in 1982.

Then he appeared in lots of blockbuster dramas and became a familiar face in the showbiz industry. He came to the timeline around the showbiz arena for his character ‘Kankata Romzan’ in the drama ‘Songsaptak’. 

The actors also received fame for acting in many plays. They are- ‘Nikhoj Songbad’, ‘Hotat Ekdin’, ‘Pathor Somoy’, ‘Somudre Gangchil’, ‘Kacher Manush’, ‘Mohona’, ‘Nil Nokshal Sondhane’, ‘Durbin Diye Dekhun’, ‘Vangoner Shobdo Shuni’, ‘Kothao Keo Nei’, etc.  

Also his films- ‘Sontrash’, ‘Dahan’, ‘Loraku’, ‘Dinmajur’, ‘Bir Purush’, ‘Bishwa Premik’, ‘Ajker Hitler’, ‘Mayer Odhikar’, ‘Bidrohi Charidike’, ‘Mone Pre Tomake’, ‘Bachelor’, ‘Joyjatra’, ‘Shyamol Chaya’ etc.   

In the 1990s, Humayun Faridi began the journey in the film industry and dominated the industry until his death. In 2004, he won the National Film Award for his terrific acting performance in the media industry. 

Humayun Faridi was married twice in personal life. In the 1980s, Faridi married Nazmun Ara Begum Minu. They had one daughter – Shararat Islam Devyani. The couple got divorced after four years. He has then married the actress Suborna Mustafa until 2008.
Humayun Faridi died on February 13, 2012, suffering from chronic lungs disease in his residence.

He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for best actor for his lead role in film Matritto (2004) while he was awarded Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2018. The government announced his name as one of the eminent citizens for awarding prestigious Ekushey Padak for 2018 for his contribution to the film industry.
