Mohammad Hafeez, the Pakistan all-rounder, will retire from Test cricket at the end of ongoing third Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi. The 38-year-old informed the selectors of his decision, which was taken with an intention to prolong his limited-overs career.

The current Test is Hafeez's 55th appearance in the five-day format for Pakistan. In a Test career spanning 15 years, Hafeez has scored in excess of 3500 runs in Tests till date, with 10 hundreds and 12 half-centuries. His contribution as a bowler include 53 wickets.

The series against New Zealand, however, has been a forgettable outing so far for the experienced all-rounder, with only 39 runs in four innings - including a duck in the first essay of the ongoing Test - while not having picked a wicket so far in the three matches.
