HT Imam passes away

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's political adviser Hossain Toufique (HT) Imam has passed away (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un).
He breathed his last at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital at 1:15 am on Wednesday. He was 82 years old at the time of his death.
Barrister Biplob Barua, the special assistant to the Prime Minister and Awami League Office Secretary, confirmed the matter on his verified Facebook page at 1:20 am.
HT Imam was admitted to CMH in Dhaka a few days ago with various old age-related diseases including kidney complications.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep grief over the death of HT Imam. She prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and conveyed her deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
HT Imam, the first Cabinet Secretary of Independent Bangladesh, participated in the Great Liberation War in 1971 as a high-ranking government official of the then East Pakistan. He appointed as Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Rangamati District in 1971. He made important contributions to the management of the expatriate Bangladesh government.
After the Awami League forming government in 2009, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina appointed him as an Adviser on Public Administration in the capacity of Cabinet Minister.
HT Imam was a member of the Awami League Advisory Council and co-chairman of the Electoral Steering Committee and chairman of the Publicity and Publication Sub-Committee.
