HC rejects Dr. Sabrina’s bail

The High Court today has rejected the bail petition of Dr. Sabrina Sharmin Hossain of JKG Healthcare who was arrested on charges of giving false reports of the Covid-19 test.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Sheikh Zakir Hossain and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal passed the order on Tuesday. Deputy Attorney General Md. Monirul Islam was heard for the state.
Earlier, on December 28, Dr. Sabrina appealed to the High Court for bail.
The case is being in the witness stage in the trial court. Out of the total 43 witnesses for the state – the testimony of 13 has completed. The next testimony is scheduled for January 6.
Apart from Sabrina and Ariful, the other accused in the case are – Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, Humayun Kabir Himu, Tanjila Patwari, Biplob Das, Shafiqul Islam Romeo and Jebunnesa.
Tejgaon police arrested six people, including Ariful on June 23 on charges of giving fake certificates of Covid-19, forgery and fraud. After his arrest, Ariful’s forces vandalized and attacked the police station while he was in police custody.
It is to be mentioned that there were allegations of various immoral activities in the name of training by setting up a sample collection booth at Titumir College in Mohakhali. Ariful’s men also attacked the teachers, staff and students of Titumir College for obstructing various immoral activities including undesirable stances of men and women in the college rooms.
