The High Court (HC) today ordered authorities concerned to pay salary and other benefits to headmasters of primary schools as per 10th grade of the national pay scale.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Khizir Ahmed Choudhury passed the order today, declaring “absolute” a rule issued earlier in this regard.

The court asked to make this order effective from March 9, 2014.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 2014 promoted the rank of primary school headmasters to second class. But the concerned ministry fixed the entry scale for trained headmasters to 11th grade and 12th grade for the headmasters without raining. But the second class officials working in different ministries and departments get salary as per 10th pay scale.

A total of 45 teachers filed a writ against this and the High Court on March 5, 2018, issued the rule. The court came up with today’s order after holding final hearing on the rule.
