HC for disposing of Pori Moni’s bail petition

The High Court today has directed to dispose of the bail petition of the actress Pori Moni in the drug case by September 1.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal passed the order on Thursday.
Advocate Mujibur Rahman was present in the hearing of the bail petition in the court. At the beginning of the hearing, the lawyer presented the details of the case and the context of bail. However, the court sought the seized evidence of the case and the date, time and statement of the incident. In response, the lawyer heard the relevant information, the seizure list in the court.
Earlier on August 25, Pori Moni’s lawyer filed a petition with the High Court challenging “the validity of the lower court’s order” for setting the long-delayed bail hearing on September 13 in the drug case. At the same time, Pori Moni’s bail has been sought.
Following the third-phase remand, the court ordered to send Pori Moni to jail in a drug case filed with the Banani Police Station on August 21. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam passed the order after hearing.
Later on August 22, the bail petition was filed in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes. The court fixed September 13 for hearing.
Incidentally, RAB arrested Pori Moni and her accomplice Dipu from Banani residence on August 4 after a four-hour raid. At that time, various types of drugs were recovered from Pori Moni’s house. Later on August 5, RAB-1 filed a case against the actress and her accomplice under the Narcotics Act with Banani Police Station.
