Grammy-nominated Sophie dies of Athens ‘sudden accident’

Sophie, the Grammy-nominated pop musician and producer, has died following a ‘sudden accident’ in Athens on Saturday. She was 34-year-old at the time of her death.
Sophie’s said in a statement that the musician died at around 4:00 pm on Saturday at Athens, the capital of Greece, where she had been living.
The musician-producer worked with stars like Madonna and Charli XCX, reports BBC.
The statement said, “Sophie was a pioneer of a new sound, one of the most influential artists in the last decade. Not only for ingenious production and creativity but also for the message and visibility that was achieved. An icon of liberation.”
Explaining her accident, the agency wrote, “ she had climbed up to watch the full moon and slipped and fell.”
“She will always be here with us,” the statement said, adding: “The family thanks everyone for their love and support and request privacy at this devastating time.”
Sophie was transgender, and after being given the Innovator gong at the Association of Independent Music (AIM) Awards in 2018, she used her platform to promote trans rights. - BBC.
