Govt working to reduce pressure on students: Education Minister

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said that sometimes students are suffering from social and family pressure over the exam results. The government is working to reduce this pressure on students.

She came up with the comments while speaking as the chief guest at the 'Obhishek 2020-22' organized by the Education Reporters Association on Wednesday.

"We want to build the education system in such a way that there will be no additional examination dependence. We think the assessment of students means exams. Everyone has a charismatic mentality. Education has become a sad thing and we have to get out of this," she said.

Addressing the students, she said, "Students should not only get immersed in books, but they should also keep themselves busy in the social and cultural activities."

Dipu Moni said, "Students will have to know about advanced mentality, humanity, patriotism, history, environment."

Addressing the teachers, she said the government is working to ensure the financial security of the teachers. Otherwise, there will be no benefit even if thousands of changes are made in the education system. In order to improve the quality of education, there are preconditions for the recruitment of teachers, the Ministry of Education is working on what kind of training is needed. We are also working on digital classrooms and infrastructure development.

Speaking to reporters, the education minister said, "Sometimes what I said about the exam did not publish in the newspapers exactly like that. Sometimes it is published changing a word or two. That is why confusion is created." Therefore, she urged journalists to be vigilant.
