The government has taken a decision to introduce pre-primary education for a period of two years. This class will be introduced in 2,583 government primary schools in the country from 2021.

The Department of Primary Education sent a letter to the department deputy directors to select 2,583 schools. However, the selected school must have a specific or unique and well-equipped pre-primary classroom and a teacher who has 15 days of training in pre-primary education.

It has been asked to select one school from each cluster by September 15 and send e-mail as well as hard copy to the Department of Primary Education.

According to the letter, the pre-primary trained assistant teachers of the schools selected for piloting cannot be transferred from that school for at least three years or before 2023 under any circumstances.

The letter further said that the National Curriculum and Textbook Board has formulated an interim package for a two-year pre-primary education piloting program with an expert technical committee on the subject.
