Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the government is considering another week-long lockdown from April 14.

He told reporters on Friday morning.

“There did not seem to be any change in the apathetic mentality of the people in the ongoing one-week lockdown,” said the Brides Minister. “For this, the COVID outbreak has taken a terrible form.”

The rate of infection and death is increasing by leaps and bounds. In such a situation, the government is actively thinking about a comprehensive lockdown for a week from April 14, said Obaidul Quader.

The activists of Awami League were standing by the helpless people and helped them on behalf of the party during COVID, said Awami League General Secretary. “But BNP is giving lip service by closing the doors, windows and making imaginary allegations.”

He added that the BNP was shouting from isolation to appease the London leadership and to keep safe from activists’ wrath by failing in the movement. “Now the BNP has taken its politics into residential form, wrapping up from the doorstep of the people.”

When any issue comes up, BNP tries to gain political advantage, Obaidul Quader said. “BNP should keep in mind that the days of ascending to power through parasitic movements and secret conspiracies are over.”

The Bridges Minister said the people have confidence in Sheikh Hasina and the confidence of the people is the main strength of the Sheikh Hasina government. “People know very well that BNP coming to power means the country is plunged into darkness again,” he added.

Regarding the violence in Hefazat, Obaidul Quader said, “Efforts to destroy people’s wealth on the pretext of religion or using religion as a shield will no longer be tolerated. The Muslims of this country have not leased their religion to any evil power or religion traders.”

He further said that the government will crack down on any attempt to destabilize the country for fulfilling the dreams of some selfish and ambitious people.

On behalf of the Awami League and the people, I would like to extend my best wishes and congratulations to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for becoming the D-8 President for the next two years, said Raid Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader. “This achievement is a recognition of Sheikh Hasina’s leadership. This is also the countrymen’s achievement.”
