Health Minister Zahid Maleque today said the government has sent a letter to China to buy the coronavirus vaccine.
“Initially, 4 to 5 crore doses have been sought,” he made the remarks at the state guest house Padma in the capital after providing medical and medical equipment to Nepal on Tuesday morning.
The Health Minister said Covid-19 has taken a terrible turn globally. Many people are dying every day in our neighboring country India. No state or country can come out of this pandemic alone. “To overcome this situation, everyone has to work together. People’s awareness and government guidance should be increased.”
“The rich state will get the vaccine, the poor state will not get it, it cannot happen,” he added.
Meanwhile, China is giving 5 lakh vaccines of Sinopharm to Bangladesh as a gift. That consignment is now on its way to Dhaka, the Chinese embassy in Dhaka informed this on Monday.
According to the Chinese embassy in Dhaka, the packing of the 5 lakh vaccines that will be given to Bangladesh has been completed. The vaccine was taken from the company to Beijing Airport by covered vans and will arrive in Dhaka by air from the airport. The vaccines are being transported in trucks which can keep the vaccines in cold storage.
