Govt approves 2 more private universities

In spite of criticizing various types of irregularities against the majority of the existing private universities, the government has been granting approval of a private university one after the other. 

The government has given approval of the establishment of two more private universities in one week. 

One of them is Bandarban University in Bandarban and another is Shah Makhdum Management University in Rajshahi. 

With this, the number of private universities in the country stands at 101.

The Education Ministry issued separate notifications on Thursday in this regard.

Of them, Bandarban University is situated at the main road of Bandarban district town while Shah Makhdum Management University is in Rajshahi.

State Minister for Chattogram Hill Tracks Affairs Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing has founded the Bandarban University while BM Shamsul Haque is the founder of Shah Makhdum Management University.

As per the notifications, the universities got temporary approval under section 35 and sub-sections 1 and 2 of section 7 of the Private University Act-2010 tagging 23 conditions.

Earlier on April 18, the government approved two other new private universities such as Khulna Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah University and Ahsania Mission Science and Technology University in Rajshahi.
