If all goes well, the coronavirus or Covid-19 vaccine will available in the market in December this year or January next year, said Dr. Asif Mahmud, head of research and development at Globe Biotech Limited.

“We are getting what we were hoping for in our animal trials. We will apply for human trial within this month,” he told the media on Thursday.

Dr. Asif Mahmud said, “We will apply for human trial this month. Then how fast BMRC (Bangladesh Medical Research Council) will give us approval, if everything goes as per our protocol, then we can say that we will be able to bring the vaccine to the market in December this year or January next year.”

If everything goes well, that is our plan, however, everything is not in our hands where BMRC, government and many other issues are involved, he said.

Meanwhile, Md. Habibur Rahman, chairman of the Globe Biotech, said, “We are now going for the human trial by September 20.”

Asked if the animal trial was successful, he replied, “It was 100% successful.”

Earlier, Globe Biotech Limited, a subsidiary of Globe Pharmaceuticals Group of Companies Limited, told that the vaccine may arrive in December.

The company announced the discovery of the first vaccine in the country on July 2. On the same day, they said that they started the work of inventing this vaccine on March 7 and if they can complete all the stages, this vaccine can be marketed in the next 6 to 7 months.
