Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan promoted to Lieutenant General, appointed as Commandant of NDC

The government has promoted Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him as the Commandant of the National Defense College (NDC).
A senior government official confirmed his promotion on Thursday. Lieutenant General Sheikh Mamun Khaled retired from the post of Commandant of the National Defense College last month. It is learned that the rank of Lieutenant General of Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan will be implemented after joining the workplace. Last March, Lieutenant General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan joined the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) as Vice-Chancellor (VC) with the rank of Major General.
According to the BUP website, General Hasan was commissioned in the Bangladesh Army in December 1984. Lieutenant General Hassan graduated from Defense Service Command and Staff College of Bangladesh and Staff College of Brazil, Masters in Defense Studies under National University, two Masters in War Studies and Security Studies from BUP, Armed Forces War Course and National Defense. He also holds a Ph.D. in Security Studies from Jahangirnagar University.
Besides being the commanding officer of an infantry battalion and commander of two infantry brigades, Lieutenant General Hasan was the founder GOC of the 10th Infantry Division at Ramu in Cox’s Bazar. He has also previously served as the Logistics Area Commander of the Bangladesh Army and the Jashore Area Commander and GOC of the 55 Infantry Division.
General Hassan served as the ‘Strategy Planner’ for the Combined Planning Group of U.S. Central Command Headquarters (USCENTCOM), Tampa, USA.
