At least four people have been killed in a shootout between two groups in a courtroom in Delhi, India.
The shootout took place on Friday afternoon.
News outlet Anandabazar Patrika reports that the “notorious terrorist” and gangster Jitender Gogi was among the dead. Several others were wounded in the incident.
It is learned that some gunmen entered the courtroom posed with lawyer’s clothes.
During the shootout between the two sides, the Delhi Police fired back at the courtroom. It is believed that two terrorists were killed in the “police firing”.
According to Indian media sources, “35 to 40 rounds of bullets” were fired in the court premises on Friday. A female lawyer working at the court was also wounded in the shooting.
It is to be noted that there are multiple cases against Jitender Gogi. Special Division of the Delhi Police arrested him in this year’s April.
It was initially known that the opposition shot at him while he was taken to the courtroom. Police suspect that members of the ‘Tillu’ group were involved in the attack on Jitender Gogi.
Rohini Deputy Commissioner of Police Pranab Tayal said the assailants shot Gogi inside the court wearing a lawyer’s uniform. Then the police also fired back.
