The Friday prayer was held at the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram following the hygiene rules amid nationwide seven days strict lockdown. However, due to strict lockdown as well as rain, the presence of worshipers was comparatively less.

Today, it was seen that apart from the main courtyard of the National Mosque, various places including the verandah-stairs were almost empty. Where on other Fridays the worshipers perform the prayers by lining up in the lower market square or in the empty space around it.

Meanwhile, due to the alarming rise of coronavirus infection, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has directed all to offer daily prayers and Friday prayer maintaining proper health guidelines.

The ministry asked all to wear masks, directed the elderly people, children, and ill persons not to come into the mosques. Besides, each mosque should have enough soap, hand sanitizer, or a handwashing system at the entrance. Everyone should perform ablution from their respective homes, perform Sunnat prayers at home and wash their hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.

In its guideline, the ministry said, the devotees will have to bring their personal prayer mats as authorities will not be allowed to lay out carpets on mosque floors.

Local administrations will take legal action against those who will violate the directives, the notification added.
