The government has adopted a house-building program for 14,000 ill-off freedom fighters in Mujib Year. To implement this project a budget of Tk 2400 crores has been estimated, said Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 100th birth anniversary is on March 17, 2020. On this occasion, the government will build houses for 14,000 ill-off freedom fighters across the country. The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has taken up a project for this and cost is estimated at Tk 2400 crore.

Those who are ill-off freedom fighters have to apply for this house through UNO of their respective Upazilas. The main activities of this application will be launched on February 20. After scrutinizing the papers of the applicants' documents it will be sent to the Ministry of Liberation War. From there the cheque will be allotted in the name of the applicant freedom fighter. With this allotted money, the Deputy Commissioner and UNO will make their home. Those who do not have land or landless will be made home in demesne. The purpose of this abode is to not let anyone be helpless in Mujib Year.

In this regard, Minister of Liberation War, AKM Mozammel Haque told Daily Bangladesh that the government has declared 2020 as Mujibur year on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu. On this occasion, the government will make a full residence or home to 14,000 poor freedom fighters across the country. The program will start on February 20.

The minister added that all the officials have been working relentlessly to implement this plan. The design of their home has already been completed. On the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, those who have liberated the country will be given these houses as a gift as part of the celebration of 'Mujib Year'.

He further said that the freedom fighters ministry has directed the district administrators to provide medical facilities to the ill-off freedom fighters. They have been allocated money so that they can get immediate treatment of all Upazila government hospitals, district headquarters hospitals, government medical colleges and specialized hospitals.
