Arrested fraudster Rezwanul Haque
The arrested fraudster Rezwanul Haque knocked Dr. Sabrina Arif Chowdhury, chairman of JKG Healthcare – who was arrested for fraud in the coronavirus test – on Facebook to save her from the current crisis, however, he demanded money in return, confirmed Md. Hafizur Rahman, additional police superintendent and company commander of RAB-13, on Wednesday, saying that “RAB arrested him on Tuesday afternoon from Kadirabad Bazar in Pirganj upazila, Rangpur.”
According to RAB, the accused had been cheating by opening fake accounts on Facebook in the name of MPs, secretaries and other important people of the state.
He is also accused of opening a fake Facebook account in the name of Md. Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of Ministry of Education, and MP Saifuzzaman Shikhar, Md. Hafizur Rahman told the media.
RAB-13 company commander Hafizur said the arrested fraudster had been cheating for a long time by opening a fake Facebook account in the name of MP Saifuzzaman Shikhar of Magura-1 constituency. He used to demand large sums of money from the local level leaders through messengers by assigning them positions in various committees, exempting them from lawsuits and getting relief. An account number of Dutch Bangla Bank was given for sending money.
Besides, he had been cheating in the same way for a long time by opening a fake Facebook account in the name of Md. Mahbub Hossain, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of Ministry of Education.
Through this, he contacted about 400-500 teachers and friends of the education secretary and asking from grants by telling them about illness and operation of friends and acquaintances, the RAB-13 official also said, adding, “BCS education cadre, teachers of various public universities and even people working in the Ministry of Education had been cheated by him. He used a personal bKash number to collect donations.”
The investigation shows that the teachers sent him lakhs of takas through bKash by tempting his words. He has also swindled lakhs of takas by showing the temptation of changing certificates, posting in lucrative places, promotions, changing test results, providing test question papers, etc.
Accused Rezwanul Haque's house is in Madankhali village of Pirganj upazila of Rangpur. During the preliminary interrogation, he admitted the allegation of cheating, RAB official Hafizur Rahman said, adding “legal action was being taken against the accused fraudster.”
