Detained fraudster Masuk Mia alias Masud used to form relationships with men through Facebook accounts in the guise of women. Changing voice on mobile or messenger, he could use a sweet voice to seduce men by a female voice. After the arrest, Masud showed the RAB the trick of cheating in women's voices. A video of Masud's deception reached to Daily Bangladesh.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, RAB arrested Masud from Municipality Bazar of Manohardi Police Station in Narsingdi.

Senior ASP of Rapid Action Battalion-4 Md. Sajedul Islam Sajal said that the arrestee Masud could change his voice and speak in a woman's voice. He is adept at skillful acting. Sometimes an expatriate woman, sometimes a police officer, sometimes the mother-sister of the girl used to act and talk. Seeing the picture of the beautiful young woman on Facebook, many believed her to be a real girl. Masud swindled lakhs of taka by capitalizing on that belief and developing it in a fancy way.

About his (Masud) strategy, Mr. Sajal said Masud opened a Facebook account using pictures of beautiful girls. Targeted people are invited to become friends by sending friend requests from that fake account. Mobile number is given and taken only after responding to this invitation.

Sometimes, a friendly conversation in a woman's voice for a long time, again a love affair is more than a friendly conversation continued. At one stage, the cheater Masud left for Dhaka to meet his boyfriend or friend. On the way, Masud informed his boyfriend or friend that he suffered an accident and then would be admitted to the hospital. Then he asked to lend Tk 25,000-30,000 for the treatment.

The victim also sent the money on basis of simple faith. Since then the communication has stopped. The fraudster never spoke in a video call to avoid being caught.

ASP Ziaur said that fraudster Masuk Mia opened a fake Facebook ID in the name of Sonia Akhter Keya. He used to use the picture of a girl named Tanjim Mehjabin Khan Sneha as the Facebook profile picture. Introducing himself as a London expatriate, he used to send friend requests to different boys.

Whenever he received a friend request, he would sometimes talk in a messenger, sometimes on a mobile phone in a woman's voice. He used to steal money from innocent victims by acting in different roles. So far, Masud has embezzled 15-20 lakh taka. But the deceiver could not escape the eyes of the smart team of RAB. He was eventually arrested. A case has been filed against him under the Digital Security Act.
