Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam on Wednesday said that four-tier security measures have been taken in and around the Central Shaheed Minar to ensure smooth and peaceful celebration of the Shaheed Dibas or International Mother Language Day on February 21.

There is no specific threat and no one will be allowed to create any anarchy, he said.

The DMP commissioner said this while talking to reporters at around 11:00 am after inspecting the security arrangements at the Central Shaheed Minar area.

All types of vehicle movement in the Central Shaheed Minar and its adjacent areas will be remained to suspend from 6:00 pm on Thursday to Friday midnight, said the DMP commissioner.

Shafiqul Islam said that all the people will have to cross multiple archways and checkpoints to enter the Shaheed Minar premises. Closed-circuit camera televisions (CCTVs) have been monitored round the clock. Besides plainclothes cops and patrolling teams would be deployed in and around the Shaheed Minar. Social media sites will be constantly monitored by the DMP's Cyber Security Department.

He said that the Shaheed Minar area has been sealed off. Every inch of the premises will be under CCTV surveillance. No one will be allowed to pass the barricade without searching, he added.
