Four killed in Gaibandha Bus-truck collision

Four people were killed and at least 20 injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a sand-laden truck on Dhaka-Rangpur highway at Bakchar in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha early Sunday.

The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.

According to police sources and locals, the Panchagarh-bound ‘VS Paribahan’ bus collided with the truck at around 5:30 am, leaving four people, including the bus driver and truck driver, died on the spot and 20 people, including a child and woman, injured.

The injured were rushed to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex and Bogra Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Two or three of them are in critical condition.

Gobindaganj Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Bashar confirmed the information. He initially blamed the truck drivers` sleep as the reason behind the accident.
