Four arrested in capital over producing fake currencies

Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested four persons, including two women, from a house at Nurjahan Road under Mohammadpur Police Station in the capital in an overnight drive for having involvement in counterfeit money production.
M Mashiur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gulshan Division of Police said, “Fake currencies worth about Taka 49 lakh were recovered after raiding a house on the second floor of a six-storey building of Nurjahan Road in Mohammadpur area.”
The arrestees are factory owners Humayun Kabir, Jamal Uddin, 42, Taslima Akhter, 30, and Sukhi Akhter, 30.
Two laptops, four printers, some few cutters, several screens, dice, safety threads, different colored inks, glue, a large amount of special paper with watermarks and other materials and soft data or copies were recovered during the drive.
“With the above-mentioned materials, it was possible to make counterfeit notes of about Taka four crore,” the DC mentioned.
