Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz died on Saturday, 3 days after being hospitalized with coronavirus.

Lorenzo Sanz, 76, was admitted at intensive care unit in a serious condition with coronavirus symptoms on Wednesday. He had a fever for eight days and was taking paracetamol at home.

My father has just died. He did not deserve this ending and in this way, Fernando Sanz, his son, and former Real player wrote on Twitter. One of the kindest, bravest, and hardworking people I've ever seen is leaving.

Sanz served as president of Real Madrid from 1995 to 2000, helping the club win 1998 and 2000 Champions League titles.

Sanz signed players such as Roberto Carlos, Clarence Seedorf, and Davor Suker during his time in charge of the 33-time Spanish champions.
