Coronavirus is not stopping even after six months. Every day thousands of people around the world are being infected with this deadly virus. Former Brazil and Real Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxembourg has been added to the list. He confirmed the matter on social media.
“My test was positive for COVID-19. I am already in quarantine, at home, punished,” said the former Brazilian selector with irony on his social networks twitter, who, by his age, 68, is part of the risk group.
The Brazilian is currently working as head coach of his hometown club Palmeiras. The 68-year-old coach has stood out in numerous club dugouts in his career.
Luxembourg was the head coach of the Brazilian national team from 1998-2000. He also coached Real Madrid in the 2005-06 season. The former footballer has spent most of his coaching career at various Brazilian clubs. Notable among these are Santos, Flamengo, Corinthians, Atletico Mineiro, Gremio, Vasco da Gama and Cruzeiro.
In his record, he has five Brazilian League titles won with Palmeiras (1993 and 1994) Corinthians (1998), Cruzeiro (2003) and Santos (2004). He also won the 1999 Copa América de Paraguay as Brazil coach.
Luxembourg began his coaching career in 1983 at the Brazilian club Campo Grande.
