Former BFF vice president and footballer Badal Roy dies

Former Bangladesh national football team captain and Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) vice president Badal Roy has died after fighting with cancer for the past few days. He breathed his last on Sunday evening.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) media executive Khalid Mahmood Naomi confirmed the matter to Daily Bangladesh.

One side of his body was already paralyzed due to bleeding in the brain. Badal Roy had been admitted to the ICU of Square Hospital with various symptoms including abdominal pain a few days ago. He had to do dialysis. He was diagnosed with stage-4 liver cancer on Sunday.

A few days ago, Abdul Gaffar said, Badal's condition is getting worse. Dialysis also has to be done. The doctor found the existence of liver cancer after a CT scan. He said it is difficult to recover from there. Even if you take it abroad, there will be no benefit. Now it seemed that water had accumulated in his body and he could not speak normally.

Badal Roy played for Mohammedan Sporting Club in the '80s. He was also the captain of the national team. At the end of his playing career, he joined Mohammedan as an organizer. After working as a joint secretary in the Bangladesh Football Federation, he was vice-president three times in a row. In addition to being vice-president of the Olympic Association, he was also discharged the duty of the treasurer of the National Sports Council.
