Forest robber hasty again!

7 killed in one week

In the Sundarbans, the hasty of the forest robber are being noticed again. Torture on fishermen to pay the ransom on the rise as well. Seven forest robber were killed in gun fight and one arrested over a week.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared Sundarbans robber-free through video conference on 1st November last year. The surrender process of the robbers ends in 2016. But once again the bandits started to be associated again in the Sundarbans.

Fishermen said that after the announcement of the Sundarbans as robber free, they were earning their livelihood without fear. But presently the presence of small bandit groups in remote areas of Satkhira, Khulna and Chandpai ranges of the Sundarbans are being noticed. They are kidnapping the forests earners and demanding ransom recently.

Meanwhile, RAB and Coast Guard have been conducting operations in the Sundarbans in search of these bandits. As part of this, seven robbers have been killed in separate drives in the last one week. At this time firearms and bullets were recovered from them.

In the gunfight with the RAB at Kalagachhia area of Satkhira Range, Saheb Ali groups main leader Saheb Ali Gazi (35) and his associate Habibur Rahman Dhali (28) were killed. At the time, two guns, one piping gun, 32 rounds bullets and seven bullet shells were recovered from the spot.

Earlier, on February 25, four people, including Chief of the Arif group were killed in a battle with RAB-8 in Jongra canal of Chandpai Range. The dead were the Md. Alim alias Arif sons of Abdul Awal, Raju son of Afzal Hawlader, Sohel and Rubel, son of Altaf Howlader.

On February 18, a member of the Hsabur group was killed in a gunfight with the Coast Guard in Dakop area of the Sundarbans West Forest Division. The Coast Guard rescued four acne guns and one round bullet from the spot. RAB-6 kayarara raids in the Baraikhali village in Kayara while a robber named Kamrul Islam Morol was arrested. A pipe gun and seven rounds of bullets were recovered from him.

Depending on the Sundarbans, fishermen, Bowali and Maulra said that in the mid-January, a few bandit groups were organized. They kidnapped fishermen and ransom demands from them.

In fact, task force is working in coordination with RAB, Police, Coast Guard, BGB and Forest Department in connection with the Sundarbans and the suburb areas.
