Despite the global coronavirus pandemic, the amount of foreign net investment in the country has increased at a significant rate.

During the 10 months of the current fiscal year (July 2020 to April 2021), the amount of this investment has increased by 32.12 percent to $1.46 billion as compared to the same period of the last fiscal year (2019-2020).

Gross investment during July-April was $2.995 billion which is more than 7.85 percent from the same period last fiscal.

The data came from an updated report on the Balance of Payments (BOP) released by the central bank on Tuesday.

According to the report of the Central Bank, the amount of investment of expatriate Bangladeshis has increased by 9 percent to $193 million in July-April as compared to the same period of the last fiscal year.

It is to be noted that the net investment account can be obtained by deducting the dividend money taken by the foreign institutions from the total foreign investment.
