Flood situation improves in 12 districts

The flood situation in 12 districts of the country may improve in the next 24 hours as water levels in most of its rivers were seen as a receding trend. These districts are Sirajganj, Tangail, Natore, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Chandpur, Rajbari, Shariatpur, Dhaka and Narayanganj.

A statement from the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center on Saturday said the water levels in major rivers in the northeastern Meghna Basin were declining, which could continue for the next 48 hours. In addition, the water levels of the Brahmaputra and Jamuna rivers are declining, which may continue for the next 72 hours.

The water level of the Ganges-Padma river is declining, which may continue for the next 48 hours. The water level in the rivers around the capital Dhaka is declining, which may continue for the next 24 hours.
 
Meanwhile, the flood situation in the low-lying areas adjacent to the Dhaka City Corporation may improve.

Among the monitored 101 river points in the country, water levels of 19 stations have declined while went up at 79 points and remained stable at 12 points. Water is flowing above the danger mark at 12 rivers and 16 points.

Significant rainfall has been recorded across the country in the last 24 hours, 100 mm in Sunamganj, 53 mm in  Manu Railway Bridge, and 50 mm in Chhatak.
