First Bangladeshi coronavirus death recorded in UK

A British-Bangladeshi man died of Coronavirus in the UK on Sunday. He died at a Manchester hospital just five days after being diagnosed with the Covid-19. His son told BBC Bangla that the man was infected with coronavirus while visiting Italy.

He said that at the beginning of every year, his father went to Italy for two to three weeks. It is one of his favorite places to visit. Because he was in Italy for many years. In 1989, he came to Italy from Bangladesh at a young age. The northern Italian town where we live in is about 50 miles away from Milan, the border with Switzerland. For many years we were there. I was born there and I grew up there.

"We moved to Britain five or six years ago," he added. We live in Manchester. But my father loved to visit Italy. We also used to visit there with all our family members every summer. But my father used to travel at the beginning of every year in his old town in Italy and this year too. He moved there in mid-February. Nevertheless, coronavirus has not been heard so widely in Italy. But in the two weeks he was in Italy, things quickly got worse. Coronavirus is widely spread there. On February 29, Dad returned from Italy. He was still healthy. But after three days, everything changed.

He said that when his father went to the nearest health center on March 3, doctors and nurses asked him why he was wearing a mask. He said he visited Italy and come just two days ago. Immediately there was panic. He was taken apart. An emergency team arrived from North Manchester General Hospital and took him to the hospital. We met him the last time. We did not realize that we would never see him again. The first few days in the hospital he was pretty good. But then doctors were saying there was not enough oxygen in his blood. His heartbeat is irregular. This was going on for a few days. Then on Sunday, he died.
