Fire breaks out at Serum Institute of India

A terrible fire broke out at the Terminal 1 gate of Serum Institute of India which manufacturers of Vaccines & immuno-biologicals in Pune on Thursday.

The fire continued to rage at the fourth and fifth floors of the SEZ3 building inside Terminal Gate 1 of Serum Institute of India in Pune, reports Times of India.

The vaccine and vaccine manufacturing plant are safe, report ANI. However, the cause of the fire is not yet known.

The Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest vaccine maker, is spread over 100 acres in Pune.

The vaccine manufacturer institute is currently manufacturing an anti-coronavirus vaccine called Covishield which is developed by Oxford University and pharmaceuticals company AstraZeneca.
