Fire at United Hospital: HC seeks report by Jun 14

The High Court on Tuesday has directed to file the report – the death of five patients in the isolation unit in a fire at the United Hospital in the capital’s Gulshan – by June 14.
The United Hospital, RAJUK, the Fire Service and Civil Defense and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) have been asked to implement the directive.
Hearing the writ petition filed by a Supreme Court lawyer on Tuesday, the virtual bench of High Court Justice M. Enayetur Rahim passed the order.
Barrister Muntasir Uddin Ahmed appeared for the writ petition. Deputy Attorney General Amit Talukder represented the state.
The writ petition was filed on May 30 by Barrister Niaz Muhammad Mahbub and Barrister Shahida Sultana Shila.
Muntasir Uddin Ahmed said the High Court had directed the United Hospital, RAJUK, the Fire Service and Civil Defense and the IGP to submit a report on the incident to the court by June 14.
The fire service recovered the bodies of five in a fire that broke out in the isolation unit (outside the main building) of United Hospital on May 26.
