Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul Haque has been ruled out from the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup after fracturing a finger, said a team official on Sunday. Mominul injured the finger while playing for Gazi Group Chattogram against Gemcon Khulna at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

"Yes he is ruled out from the tournament after fracturing his index finger of right hand," Chattogram's team physio Enamul Haque said Sunday.

"We had an x-ray and there was fracture and as it will take at least four to six weeks to heal we have ruled him out of the competition," he said.

"He will be taken to Apollo Hospital and there the specialized doctors will decide their next course of action," Enam added.

Bangladesh will hope for Mominul to regain fitness at soon as possible, considering they are scheduled to host West Indies in January for a full series, comprising three Tests, three ODIs, and two T20Is.

While Mominul's exit is a big blow to Chattogram, they still have a reason to breathe a sigh of relief as their U-19 batsman Mahmudul Hasan has fully recovered from Covid-19, and joined the team's practice sessions on Saturday.
