Finally US, Taliban to sign peace deal

The United States and Taliban are set to sign a peace deal that could signal the end of America’s longest war. The deal is expected to be signed on Saturday n the Qatari capital, Doha. 

US President Trump on Friday announced that according to his direction Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will present at the signing of the agreement with Taliban representatives. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper will issue a joint declaration with the government of Afghanistan in Kabul, the US President added.

America’s top diplomat will meet with the Taliban representatives in the Qatari capital of Doha, where The deal is set to be signed. It has been reported that Mike Pompeo has already left for Doha to sign the agreement.  

In a statement, Trump said that if the Taliban and Afghan governments live up to the commitments in the agreement, “we will have a powerful path forward to end the war in Afghanistan and bring our troops home,”

“These commitments represent an important step to a lasting peace in a new Afghanistan, free from al-Qaida, ISIS and any other terrorist group that would seek to bring us harm,” Trump said.
