The ferry service on the Shimulia-Kanthalbari route has resumed nine hours after suspension at 5.30 am on Friday.
Earlier, the ferry service was stopped at around 7.30 pm due to strong currents in the Padma.
Safayet Ahmed, BIWTC manager at Shimulia Ghat, confirmed the information.
He said the ferry service on the Shimulia-Kanthalbari route has started with the launch of four small ferries at 5.30 am on Friday. However, due to the strong current of the Padma, the ferry service is being disrupted.
Safayet Ahmed further said that there are not many vehicles waiting at Shimulia Ghat. However, there is a crowd of passengers at Kanthalbari Ghat. At present, the ferries are carrying passengers and vehicles through the No. 1 ferry terminal.
