Ferguson set to return for Bangladesh T20Is

New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was injured in the T20 series against the West Indies in December last year. This Kiwi speed star has been out of the field since then. The Blackcaps will play three-match ODIs and as many 20Is against Bangladesh starting from March 20. The team's head coach Gary Stead is optimistic about getting Ferguson on the team in this series.

Lockie Ferguson will recover before the ODI series. However, due to a lack of preparation and fitness, it is very unlikely that he will be seen in one-day cricket. The T20 series will start after ODIs. Gary Stead is quite optimistic about getting this speed star in the team there.

The New Zealand head coach thinks Ferguson will be fully prepared to play before the T20 series against Bangladesh. In this regard, he said that Lockie will recover before the ODI series at the current stage. Even if he joins the team then he will be in the last stage of preparation.

"You never know how people react to it [the injury], but in Lockie's advantage he's strong, he's fit and he works very hard at that S&C [strength and conditioning] area. Hopefully, all those things will have helped him in a quick recovery."

Gary Steed added that Lockie's advantage is that he is strong. His fitness is great and he is very hardworking. He is working hard on the areas of strength and condition. Hopefully, these will help him get back faster.

New Zealand-Bangladesh 3-match ODI and T20 series will be played from March 20. Despite not being able to play in the ODIs, it is clear from the coach's words that Ferguson will return to the field after recovering from injury with the three-match T20 series starting from March 26.
