Fees of 10 emergency health tests including oxygen fixed

The government has set fees for medical tests for 10 more subjects related to Covid-19 including oxygen given to patients in all private hospitals and diagnostic centers in the country.

The fees have been in a circular signed by Dr Farid Hossain Miah, director (hospitals and clinics) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), under the direction of the High Court (HC) while the list will be submitted to the HC soon.

The list has been directed to be displayed in open space (visible) at the concerned hospitals and diagnostic centers. In addition, the owners or managing directors of all private hospitals and diagnostic centers in the country have been instructed to implement the new price list immediately.

Earlier, on July 24, 2018, the HC gave interim directions in a writ petition filed by Advocate Md. Shah Alam, the Treasurer of the Human Rights Law Years and Securing Environment Society of Bangladesh.  

Following this, on December 13 last year, the HC in an order fixed the fees list and directed to take steps within seven days to display it in the open. In this context, the Department of Health has determined the fees list and instructed to comply with it. 

The fixed fees for oxygen:

The fees of single oxygen cylinder and manifold oxygen cylinder system have been fixed at Tk 100 for 2 to 5 liters of oxygen used per hour, tk 125 for 6 to 9 liters and tk 150 for 10 to 15 liters. 

The fees of the central oxygen system (generator-based) has been fixed at tk 120 for 2 to 5 liters of oxygen used per hour, tk 300 for 6 to 9 liters and tk 350 for 10 to 15 liters.

Meanwhile the fees of central oxygen system (liquid oxygen tank based) has been fixed at tk 120 for 2 to 5 liters of oxygen used per hour, tk 250 for 6 to 9 liters and tk 300 for 10 to 15 liters.

The cost of using 60 to 70 liters of oxygen per hour with high flow nasal cannula in the central oxygen system has been fixed at tk 500. 

Fees of other 10 urgent tests-

The maximum fixed fees  for the CBC test is tk 400. Besides, the minimum fees has been fixed at tk 400 and the maximum at tk 600. The fixed fees for the CRP test is tk 800 and the minimum and maximum fees is fixed at tk 800 to 900. The fixed fees for the LFT test has been fixed at tk 1,000 and the minimum and maximum fees is tk 950 to tk 1,600. 

However, the fixed fees for creatinine test has been fixed at tk 400 and the minimum and maximum fees has been fixed at tk 300 to 650. The fixed fees of S Electrolyte test has been fixed at tk 1000 and the minimum and maximum fees is fixed at tk 850 to 1450.   

The fixed fees for D-dimer tests have been fixed at tk 1,500 and the minimum and maximum fees has been fixed at tk 1,000 to 3,200 as well as the fees of  S. Procalcitonin (PCT) tests fixed at tk 1,000 to 2,200 and the minimum and maximum fees is set at tk 1,500 to 4,500. 

The fees of CT Scan (Chest) has been fixed at Tk 6,000 and the minimum and maximum fees is for tk 5,000 to 13,000. Chest X-ray (analog) has a fixed fees of tk 400 while its minimum and maximum fees have been fixed at tk 300 to 500 including the minimum and maximum fees is set at tk 500 to 800.
