Father shots lightning bird, son takes responsibility to cure

The boy took charge of healing the injured lightning bird, shot by his father.

The bird was rescued on Friday from Mahendrapur East area on the bank of the Padma river in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia. Son Rana took charge of recovering the injured bird by father Shamsul gunfire on Thursday afternoon.

Locals said that, school children noticed the lightning bird lying on the slopes of the dam on Friday afternoon. While some of the children are playing with the bird, the rest ask for pedestrian's help to save it. At one point the injured lightning bird was rescued with the help of pedestrians.

When contacted at the police camp from the scene, officer of Jagannathpur Police Investigation Center Mukul suggested handing over the injured bird to the forest department. At that time, the pedestrians went to the area after taking charge of the rescued bird. Eventually, the victim’s son, Rana, promised to cure the ailing bird.

Rana, the son of a bird hunter, claimed that the villagers were under threat after the bird hit the hive in the village. Finding no way, his father forced to take the initiative to kill the bird.

Meanwhile, if anybody connects about the bird, action will be taken, said Kumarkhali UNO Rajibul Islam Khan.
