Farmers worried of Boro cultivation

The farmers of Durgapur Upazila in Rajshahi are worried due to the cultivation of Boro seedbed become yellow foliage by the dense fog and humid breeze. But the agriculture department said that there is no reason to be alarmed.

It is learned that the seedling of Boro falls under the dense fog and rain before it gets a little bigger. For the reason, the farmers of the Upazila are frustrated.

The agriculture department said there is no reason to be disappointed. The color of the seedling has changed due to winter and they advised the farmer to ensure that no damages can happen.

Aminul of Shanpukaria village at Durgapur said, “I have made seedbed with developed seeds for cultivating Boro. But the seedlings are quite nutritious through the dense fog, rain and wind make the seedlings fades. Now many seedlings are dying. As a result, cultivating the land seedlings might be short but the agriculture department always has given us advice. Still, there remains a doubt.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Mashiur Rahman said that if there is some problem with the seeds in the hostile weather, but there's no possibility of damages. To protect the seedling from winter or fog, it is advisable to cover the seedbed with polythene overnight. Then in the morning farmers have to remove the cold water from the leaves and tip of the sapling by irrigating the seeds.

He added that even if the color of the seedling fades, there will be no harm. The field staff is constantly on the field and giving advice. Seedlings will be planted in the field this week.
