State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain has said that all industrial establishments, including garments, will be closed during the government-announced strict lockdown from July 23 to August 5 after Eid.
He gave this information to the media on Saturday afternoon, saying that the 14-day lockdown would be “more severe than before” from July 23.
Earlier, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the government issued a notification on Tuesday announcing a strict lockdown from July 23 to August 5, despite relaxing restrictions from July 15 to July 22 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The notification said the decision was taken in the interest of celebrating the holy Eid-ul-Azha, public transport, conducting pre-Eid trade and commerce, socio-economic condition of the country and keeping the economic activities normal. Besides, people have to follow the hygiene rules “strictly” including wearing masks.
After the Eid holiday, the all-out lockdown will start again from 6 am on July 23. This lockdown is “more severe” than before. Garment factories were operating in the previous lockdown. Public-private offices, garments, factories, markets and shops will remain closed in the post-Eid lockdown.
Including these, the previous restrictions will be effective again till midnight on August 5, the notification said.
