Shahed, the prime accused in the country’s widely discussed Regent Hospital fraud case, was preparing to flee to India by boat. On Wednesday morning, RAB arrested him while he was fleeing in a boat from Labangapati area near Sakar Bazar of Debhata police station along the Satkhira border.
Shahed was wearing a black burqa over jeans and a blue shirt while trying to flee to India. The white hair on his head was black. Shahed also followed some more fancy methods to avoid arrest.
In this regard, Additional Director General of RAB Operations Colonel Tofail Ahmed gave a briefing at Satkhira District Stadium in the morning. He said Shahed had blackened his white hair to avoid arrest. He also cut his mustache. He also planned to shave his head.
The RAB official further said, "We suspect the local Bachchu Dalal of his escape." We arrested him on his way to India across the border.
How long was Shahed staying in Satkhira? In response to such a question, Colonel Tofail Ahmed said, "We have been following him for a long time, he was changing his position frequently." We finally arrested him from the banks of the Ichamati River at the Lobangapati area on the south side of the Komarpur Bailey Bridge in Debhata, Satkhira.
It may be mentioned that the mobile court of RAB earlier conducted a raid on the main office of Regent Hospital in Uttara from afternoon to night on July 6 on the charge of cheating on medical services. From there, the operation was carried out at the Mirpur branch of the hospital. Eight officers and employees of the hospital were detained at that time. Then on July 7, RAB-1 sealed the Covid-19 Dedicated Regent Hospital in Sector 11 of Uttara in the capital. Besides, the head office of Regent Group in Sector 14 of Uttara was also sealed. A case was also filed against 17 people, including Shahed, the owner of Regent Hospital, with Uttara West Police Station. Eventually RAB has been able to arrest Shahed as well.
