Fake addl secy Abdul Quader remanded for three days

A court in Dhaka has granted a three-day remand to Abdul Quader, a fake additional secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, in a fraud case lodged with the Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam’s court granted the remand on Wednesday, informed the sources of the general registration branch of the concerned court.
On the day, Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui, Inspector (Unarmed) of DB Police (Gulshan Zone) and the investigating officer of the case, appealed for a 10-days remand including shown arrest to the accused Abdul Quader. Following the petition, the court granted Quader a three-day remand.
The remand petition states that Abdul Quader is an “active member” of an “international organized fraud ring”. He identified himself as an additional secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and used the sticker of the Ministry of Public Administration in his used car. He swindled crores of takas by telling people to pass loans and sell flats.
Meanwhile, on October 7, Sheikh Ali Akbar, a contractor supplying construction goods, filed a case against three people for embezzling Tk 23.40 lakh. Besides Abdul Quader, the other accused in the case are - Quader’s wife Satata Properties Limited chairman Chowa and manager Shahidul Islam.
Later on October 8, police arrested Abdul Quader.
An arms case has also been filed against Abdul Quader with Pallabi police station and a case of fraud has been filed with Tejgaon police station. Besides, at least half a dozen cases have been filed against him over passport fraud, various frauds, bank recruitment frauds.
