Messenger will limit forwarding messages to only five people or groups
Facebook Messenger has added a forwarding limit to prevent fake news or rumors. The same message in Messenger can no longer be forwarded to more than five people or groups at a time.
Jay Sullivan, Director of Product Management, Messenger Privacy and Safety, on Thursday said in a blog post, “Forwarding limit would be able to reduce the spread of viral misinformation and harmful content.”
WhatsApp set such a limit of frequently forwarded messages more than two years ago. In March this year, it was first reported that this method would be introduced in Messenger as well. It was under testing for several days, now it is being rolled out to all users in phases.
It is known that from now on Facebook Messenger users will not be able to share any message with more than 5 users. In this case, a notification will appear immediately saying, ‘forwarding limit reached.’
