Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the physicians to serve the people with the highest sincerity. Calling the doctors, the premier said, “Provide medical services with professionalism and humanity.” The government is cordial to do all necessaries to ensure the healthcare services for the people, she added.

"Our duty is to work for the people and serve the people. We ensured the healthcare services to the village. We have established subject-oriented institute in different places across the country. Nurses will be needed there,” she said.

The Prime Minister was speaking as the chief guest at a certificate giving ceremony among the pioneering graduates of the Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College at Tetui Bari area in Kashimpur of Gazipur on Wednesday morning.

The Prime Minister said it is the first international-standard nursing college in Bangladesh. All the students who graduated from nursing college have received an international quality education. Seeing them, many young people will be interested in this nursing profession. Nursing is a great job to serve people. She urged the graduate nurses to utilize the experience and knowledge gained in the service of distressed humanity.

The Prime Minister said soon after forming the government, we pay the most attention to the health care of the country. That is why we set up countrywide community hospitals to ensure the medical care of the marginalized people. We promoted seven nursing institutes as colleges and started BSC courses there. We have plans to establish 15more collages. In addition, I am trying to establish medical university in seven departmental cities each.

She said that nursing is the most respected profession. What more could be the joy of serving a sick man and bringing him back to a beautiful life? Our government has increased the dignity of nurses so that people become interested in getting involved in this noble profession.

She said that after establishing a community clinic in 1996, the BNP government came to power and stopped the service in the 21st. They argue that people in the community clinic will vote on service boats. But this health care program launched for every six thousand people is very important. Here poor people are easily accessed. Maternity women and children benefit the most.

Sheikh Rehana, Vice President of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust and younger daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was present on the occasion as the special guest. Prof Dr Dato’ Lokman Saim, Vice-Chancellor and Dean of School of Medicine of the KPJ Healthcare University College in Malaysia addressed the function as graduation speaker while Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College Prof Taufik Bin Ismail gave welcome address.
