FR Tower: ACC’s case accusing Ex-RAJUK chair among 25

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two corruption case against 25 people including former Rajuk chairman Humayun Khadim, owner of FR Tower, SM Faruk, Rupayan Group Chairman Liaquat Ali Mukul, in connection to the FR tower construction corruption.
Two cases were filed with Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)’s integrated District Office Dhaka-1 on Tuesday. The public relations department confirmed the matter.
Md. Abubakar Siddique, the deputy director of the ACC head office is the prosecutor of the cases.
The other accused are Quasem Drycells’MD Tanvir-Ul-Islam, former Rajuk chairman KA M Harun, former member Md. Rezaul Karim Tarafdar, former director Shamsul Alam, Caretaker Md. Mofazzal Hossain, Assistant Director Shah Md. Sadrul Alam, former chief building inspector Mahbub Hossain Sarkar, former building inspector Aurangzeb Siddiqui, Assistant Authorized Officer Nazrul Islam, former caretaker Jahanara Begum, assistant director Mehduzzaman, Deputy-Quality assistant Mohammad Mojibur Rahman Mollah, office assistant Md. Muhammad Shawkat Ali, member of the BCSIR (Finance) Mohammad Shawkat Ali, Additional Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, IEG Golam Kibria, Public Administration Ministry's Deputy Secretary Abdullah Al Baki, Public Works Department's Deputy Divisional Engineer Syed Nazmul Huda and Executive Engineer Md. Samchur Rahman.
On March 28, a devastating fire broke out in Banani's FR Tower. It killed 26 people. According to the ACC, FR Tower’s floors from 15 to 23 were created by irregularities. Initially, the approval policy was not followed in the 15-storey building. Housing and Public Works Ministry's investigation committee received the design of two of the buildings.
